Britt Bridewell Bio

Britt Bridewell:  Born 1968 in Dallas, Texas. Britt Bridewell was raised like a "true" Texan. He learned to ride a horse and shoot a gun with proficiency before he was 10 years old.  Britt Bridewell loved the outdoors as a child and joined the Boy Scouts as soon as he could. He spent his boyhood summers camping in Colorado, New Mexico and Texas.  Britt excelled in Boy Scouts and quickly rose through the ranks as a good leader and scout. He earned the rare, God and Country medal as well as Eagle Scout.  During this time, his dad was diagnosed with lymphatic cancer.

In 1982, Britt's parents, approached Children's Medical Center of Dallas with the idea of establishing a fund to provide a summer camping experience for children being treated for cancer.  Mr. Bridewell, himself a cancer patient, laid the groundwork for the establishment of an endowment to fund the camp. In May of 1982, Mr. Bridewell died, and the endowment was formed.  Memorials were given in his honor to further ensure the camp's beginning.  The Bridewell Foundation was established, with the first campers participating in Camp Esperanza in 1983.

The first Camp Esperanza began in 1983 when the organization rented facilities at Camp Sweeney in Gainesville, Texas. The first camp had 68 campers and 35 staff members, Britt was one of them.  In 1991, Camp Esperanza began renting a new campsite at Camp John Marc in Meridian, Texas. Today, they have 140 campers and over 70 volunteers and staff.

The Bridewell Foundation is an organization whose sole purpose is to raise money to fund Camp Esperanza, which is free of charge to all campers.  The cost of providing a one week camping experience for each camper is $500.00; therefore, the Foundation must raise $70,000.00 to fund and operate camp each year.  The Foundation is a tax-exempt Section 501 (c) (3), non-profit organization.  Please donate if you can!  Click here for more information.

In 1986, Britt attended Menlo College in Atherton, Ca.

Britt received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and a minor in philosopy from Menlo College in 1993.  After graduation, Britton's interest in computers and software development really took off when, in 1993, Britton co-founded Red Rooster Publishing in San Francisco, CA serving as it's President and CTO.  Red Rooster was primarily a desktop publishing company, that utilized cutting edge software and hardware to capitalize on the then, new market, for desktop publishing.  Britton specialized in the software and soon taught himself how to program in many different programming languages.  As revolutionary as it was, the desktop publishing industry was short-lived as printer and software prices became more and more affordable to the average business.  Then along came the internet!

In 1995, Britt founded the Marin Web Company in San Francisco, California and serves as its President and CEO.  The Marin Web Company is a full-service web development and marketing company providing professional software and web development services: website development and design, custom web application development, web programming, e-commerce web development and professional search engine optimization.

Britt’s interests include software development, open source hardware, mountain biking, wakeboarding, snow skiing, camping and building electronic gadgets.
